Title 1 Reading
Title 1 is a Federal aid program which helps all students needing assistance in Language Arts. Our primary focus will be children in kindergarten through second grade, and third grade as needed. Students will receive reading and writing services in addition to classroom instruction in a small group setting. Title 1 services will be administered by Liz Ward, the Title 1 Reading Teacher. The Title 1 teacher will work with the classroom teacher to determine the specific skills to be addressed as well as the amount of time needed for assistance.
RTI
RTI (Response to Intervention) is the process in which we help children in kindergarten through sixth grade learn by addressing problems earlier through the use of scientifically based interventions and instruction. RTI services may be provided by our RTI Coordinator, Mrs. Alberts, Miss Ward (Title 1), and any teacher or support personnel in the building. Students may receive additional reading and/or math instruction through RTI. The level of intervention determines the size of the group and the amount of time a student will work on a specific skill.
Both
Students may receive one or both of these services. Those students who receive Title 1 reading support will bring home a permission slip requesting parent consent for reading services. Title 1 and RTI both provide assistance to students in addition to classroom instruction. Both programs work with small groups of students either in the classroom or in a separate location based upon teacher recommendations.
